Neuf judokas ont représenté le tricolore belge au Championnat du monde de judo dans la capitale ouzbèke Tachkent. Le champion du monde en titre Matthias Casse (-81 kg) n'a pas réussi à prolonger son titre, mais a pris l'argent. La deuxième meilleure performance revient à Toma Nikiforov (-100kg) qui a raté de peu le bronze et termine donc en cinquième place.
